Level B1 French Test: Assess Your Language Proficiency
Can you express yourself in most travel or work situations?
The B1 level confirms your ability to recount an event, describe a hope, or briefly explain a plan.
This interactive test lets you check your progress toward using French independently, against the B1 descriptors of the CEFR. It is a self-guided check by level, not a predictive placement: you answer 10 questions drawn at random and get a feel for how comfortably you handle B1.

Highlights of the B1 level Assessment
This test focuses on the complex structures essential at this level:
- Grammar Proficiency: Use of the present subjunctive, the conditional mood for hypothetical situations, and compound relative pronouns.
- Vocabulary and Expression: Expressing opinions, vocabulary related to the environment, current events, and emotions.
Passing this test demonstrates that you can understand the main points when clear, standard language is used.
